As the countryside awakens in spring, the urge to get out into the open air gets ever stronger and draws us out into the great outdoors and the spring air. “Active and healthy in spring” is the order of the day in the Alpe di Siusi holiday area. A variety of training sessions and workshops on the theme of health, balance, nutritious diet, optimal training techniques for runners and equipment will ensure you have all the basics you need to get the fresh air and hiking and running season off to a good start.

The events, walks and guided tours take place every week from May 2nd to June 28th 2017, and are suitable for both adults and children from the age of 14 and up. To take part in these events, you must first book at the Tourist Information Offices of the Alpe di Siusi holiday area.

 1.      Orthopaedic foot analysis and the right equipment for walking and running

Tuesday, 02 May; Monday, 08/15/22/29 May; Tuesday, 06 June; Monday, 12/19 June 2017

4 to 6 p.m.

Our expert will analyse your feet and give you an advice about the right hiking and running shoe for you. You will also have the opportunity to analyse running, hiking and mountaineering footwear at the test corner. At the “self-test” you will have the chance to ascertain how your running style affects your body, discover what a difference the right pair of shoes makes, and learn how greatly your feet affect your wellbeing.

Rudi Brunner is a dedicated runner and mountain sports enthusiasts. He has won, amongst other, the 2010 Vienna half marathon, and is also a trainer for endurance sports and performance diagnostics, orthopaedic technician and leader of running groups. Rudi will accompany and supervise runners from beginner level right through to advanced.

2.      “The Five Tibetans®” – Balance and energy for the whole body

02 May - 22 June 2017

every Tuesday from 5.30 to 6.30 p.m. at the Laghetto di Fiè Lake

every Thursday from 7.30 to 8.30 a.m. on the Monte Calvario hill at Castelrotto

The “Five Tibetans®” is a series of five exercises for body and spirit. Their effect is holistic: The body is trained, metabolism boosted, immune system and hormone release harmonised, detoxification stimulated… and best of all: The exercises are easy for everybody and quick to learn.

Furthermore, the murmur of the waters at the Laghetto di Fiè Lake, mirroring the Sciliar in their sheen, and the rustle of leaves on the Monte Calvario hill with its meditative atmosphere, awaken all the senses. A simple, efficient method of caring for your body and bringing your whole being into balance.

Monika Malfertheiner first learned about the Five Tibetans® while studying to become an InnerFitness® Trainer, and is a dedicated devotee of the five rituals. She obtained a solid grounding in the discipline through a certified training course to become a Five Tibetan trainer in order to be able to spread the word about their incredible effects and to discover the many and varied effects that they have on people.

3.   Morning daybreak walk & run with breakfast-picnic

03 May - 21 June 2017 –  every Wednesday: in May from 6 to 8 a.m./in June from 5.30 to 7.30 a.m.

What could be nicer than watching the sun rise as you enjoy a spot of keep-fit? Early risers are rewarded with clear, fresh air and the tranquillity of the morning to get the day off to a good start. A spot of healthy outdoor activity is always the best way to kick-start the day, particularly in spring when nature is astir once more. A walking and running group make their way from Siusi through the Telfen woods. After a refreshing balance drink in the wood and a stretching session to wind down, a picnic breakfast will be served on the “Veduta del Re” vantage point with its royally good views over the Laranza forest.

4.   Wood-run – running surface and the positive effects of the wood

05 May -  23 June 2017 – every Friday from 4 to 5.30 p.m.

Running through the woods is not only packed with variety, the wood-air is beautifully perfumed with the resin of the trees, a scent which is wonderful for the airways. In the heart of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Reserve, our running expert will be giving you practical running tips for beginners and expert runners alike. What goals should you set yourself and what guidelines should you follow in order to reach your targets? At the end of the session, a refreshing Balance drink will be served at the village fountain and all with a breathtaking view over the Catinaccio Mountain.

5.      Nature: The fitness studio for old and young

06 May - 24 June 2017 – every Saturday from 8.30 to 10 a.m.                     

 

The countryside surrounding the Peterbühel, a hill in the village and the oldest settlement in Fiè, is a nature fitness studio and rewards you with fresh spring air. So that means step-training on a bench, push-ups against a tree or simply balance training as you press your whole weight down into the changing terrain underfoot. Take a relaxing jog to round off your workout.

Body tension, body awareness, coordination training and regeneration make movement easier and help you to get more out of your workout. Our functional fitness trainer will help you to improve your skills in these areas and explain the connection between movement and quality of life. At the end of the session, a refreshing Balance drink will be served at the village fountain.

 6.      A journey through the world of herbs – from plant to plate

Wednesday: 7, 14, 21 and 28 June 2017 from 3.30 to 8 p.m.

On a walk with the “herb witch” Martha from Siusi to the Pflegerhof organic herb garden, you will learn about spring customs, sagas, learn to identify wild herbs and visit the Malenger Mill.

After an aperitif with a flower prosecco and appetizer at the Pflegerhof farm, Martha Mulser will accompany you on a tour of the herb fields. You will learn about the history of the farm, the herbs and their effects. Which early herb stimulates the metabolism, which cleanse the body and which are good for you?

Head Chef Franz Mulser will tell you which herbs bring out flavours to perfection at the end-of-day cookery workshop as he prepares mouthwatering dishes with fresh plants, aromatic herbs and beautiful flowers. All of which, naturally, you will be sampling against the backdrop of the Castel Rovereto ruins.

Under the guiding hand of Martha Mulser, each and every plant thrives and flourishes at the Pflegerhof farm, where over 500 herbs are cultivated and prepared with love.            

Franz Mulser, Head Chef and host of the Gostner hut, serves the very best of his Alpine cuisine, enriched with tastes from forest and field, herbs and flower petals. 

Martha Silbernagl, also known as Martha the Witch, will accompany you on your journey through the world of herbs.

BALANCE SUGGESTIONS FOR YOUR HOLIDAYS AND FOR HOME

Balance Drink

Find your balance with the Alpe di Siusi Balance drink.

 

Recipe for 300ml glass:

  • 3 cl mint syrup (home-made if possible)
  • 10 cl apple juice
  • Mineral water to dilute
  • Apple slices to garnish
  • Sprig of lavender
  •  

Simply dilute the mint syrup with the apple juice and mineral water. Add a sprig of lavender to the glass for the scent and garnish with a slice of apple.

Mint syrup to refresh, apple juice to energise, mineral water to cleanse and lavender to relax. After a Balance drink, you will be hydrated and ready for new challenges.

TIP: A slice of lemon is pretty and gives your balance drink a fresh zing!
